Moline's Historic Landmark DRI Line Depot was demolished in 2016 to make way for construction of the I-74 bridge. Historic Preservationists and Railroad Historians were on site that morning when the demolition crew began the demolition. The project supervisor offered to salvage the architectural terra cotta stones that surrounded the signature depot clock and these stones are now about to be reset into a magnificent twenty-foot clock monument on the grounds of the new Element Hotel and "Q" Depot, 12th Street and 4th Avenue, Moline.
Many who supported the Moline Preservation Society's effort to save the depot donated funds towards the cause. These donations have been held in reserve and will now be used towards funding the depot clock monument. The goal for building the monument is $125,000 with $75,000 donated to date.
All sponsorship donations will be recognized on a plaque placed on the face of the monument.
Any and all donations will be welcome! Electronic donations can be made via the PayPal button located on the home page or donations can be sent to the Moline Preservation Society, P.O. Box 9141 Moline, IL 61265.
We hope you will join us as we work to Bring the Past into the Future!
